The Outlast Trials is a terrifying, narrative-driven co-op survival horror game that expands the infamous Outlast universe into the realm of multiplayer. Set during the height of the Cold War, players take on the role of 'Reagents'—vulnerable test subjects kidnapped by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation. Held captive in a secret underground facility known as the Sinyala Facility, players are forced to undergo a series of grueling, physical, and psychological 'Trials' designed to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. Stripped of all traditional weaponry, up to four players must work together (or brave the horrors solo) to complete objectives in twisted, artificial recreations of real-world environments, such as a Police Station, Orphanage, or Fun Park. Relentlessly pursued by 'Prime Assets'—grotesque, highly dangerous experiments like the sadistic Mother Gooseberry or the electrified ex-cop Leland Coyle—players must utilize stealth, agility, and a selection of upgradable tactical 'Rigs' to survive. Between trials, players return to the Sleep Room, a shared hub where they can interact, customize their cells, and purchase permanent upgrades before stepping back into the nightmare.
