World & Level Design

The game world is exceptionally large, detailed, and diverse. Regions include the snowy mountains of Ambarino, the heartland plains and forests of New Hanover, the swampy bayous and antebellum towns of Lemoyne, the developing plains and forests of West Elizabeth, and the arid deserts and canyons of New Austin (largely based on the map from the first Red Dead Redemption). Each region has unique ecosystems, wildlife, towns, and points of interest.

Kyrat is a large and vertically diverse open world, divided into Southern Kyrat and Northern Kyrat (unlocked later in the story). Southern Kyrat features lush valleys, forests, and rivers, while Northern Kyrat is characterized by treacherous snow-capped mountains, high-altitude plateaus, and icy conditions. The map is rich with varied biomes, ancient temples, remote villages, and enemy strongholds. Additionally, players can access the mystical realm of Shangri-La through a series of side missions, offering a visually distinct and fantastical environment.
